HABITS AND PREFERENCES OF FILIPINO VIEWERS OF LOCAL FILMS IN METRO MANILA, PHILIPPINES
The Film Development Council of the Philippines (FDCP) in partnership with De La Salle University’s Social Research and Development Center (DLSU-SRDC), has released a comprehensive study on the viewing habits of Filipino audiences in Metro Manila. This follows the signing of a Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) between the two institutions on March 5, 2024. The research, titled “Habits and Preferences of Filipino Viewers of Local Films in Metro Manila,” addresses the persistent decline in cinema attendance, which has been further impacted by the Covid-19 pandemic, increased access to digital platforms, and other viewing alternatives. Through surveys and focus group discussions, the study examined audience demographics, film preferences, and perceptions of both local and foreign cinema.
