37th PMPC Star Awards for TV, honor Five Lifetime Achievers
The Philippine entertainment industry is gearing up for one of its most anticipated annual celebrations as the 37th PMPC Star Awards for Television prepares to recognize the best and brightest in local television on August 24, 2025 (Sunday), at a sophisticated hotel in Quezon City.
It promises an evening filled with glamour, heartfelt tributes, and inspiring stories of dedication.
Founded by PMPC Star Awards Inc., a distinguished collective of multimedia practitioners, the Star Awards for TV has long been regarded as a trailblazer among award-giving bodies in the Philippines.
Along with its sister events—the Star Awards for Movies and the Star Awards for Music—this ceremony honors the creativity, passion, and excellence that continue to drive the country’s entertainment industry forward.
This year’s ceremony pays special homage to a stellar group of five (5) recipients of prestigious lifetime achievement awards, celebrating their decades-long contributions that have shaped Philippine television and culture. Four of them will receive the Ading Fernando Lifetime Achievement Award:
· Geleen Eugenio – A true dance icon, Geleen’s influence on Philippine dance is monumental. For over 40 years, she has inspired countless dancers and choreographers, elevating Filipino artistry on both local and international stages through her elegant yet powerful approach.
· Malou Choa-Fagar – The veteran executive and steadfast behind-the-scenes powerhouse of Eat Bulaga!, Malou has been instrumental in maintaining the show’s status as the country’s longest-running noontime variety program. Her visionary leadership and unwavering commitment have left an enduring legacy in Philippine television production.
· Ms. Caridad Sanchez – A living legend and one of the oldest active actresses in the industry, Ms. Caridad’s iconic roles—especially her memorable portrayal of Nanay Edad in Gulong ng Palad—have deeply resonated with audiences. Her career spans decades, encompassing over 100 films and television appearances that showcase her remarkable versatility and emotional depth.
· Ariel Ureta – Known as the consummate host and actor par excellence, Ariel’s quick wit, warm presence, and infectious humor have made him a household name and beloved figure across generations. His work has consistently bridged the gap between entertainment and genuine connection with viewers.
Additionally, the Excellence in Broadcasting Lifetime Achievement Award will be bestowed upon Angelique Lazo, a highly respected news anchor known for her integrity, professionalism, and dedication to truthful reporting for more than 30 years. Her commitment to journalistic excellence continues to inspire media practitioners nationwide.
